God, when he made the world, was also looking to make the human being too. But he did not find good earth. So he changed shape into a young man, so that his legs may stand the pace and he travelled all over the earth, running here and there, so that he might find the best earth. One day, while in the Mediterranean, he was tired and he laid down his body, face down, on top of Crete which looked like a bed, in order to rest. Thus face down as he was, his feet were reaching until Hania, his body was in Heraklion, and for his pillow he took an island, Spinalonga. The right hand he threw out further, to an area which today they call Aghios Nikolaos, to a cool refreshing lagoon
